Principle of hydrocyclone

When slurry is introduced to the hydrocyclone, according to centrifugal law large particles contained within the liquid are forced to the outer wall and small particles to the middle.Large particles are forced into a gravitational down stream that develops at the tapered inner wall, and are discharged from a bottom nozzle.Small particles in contrast enter an upward stream that develops in the centre of the cyclone from where they are discharged via a top nozzle.According to the above principles the hydrocyclone is able to separate, classify and concentrate particles efficiently in a number of applications.

A 3 Liquid Classification system adopted in TR model hydrocyclones separates not only small and large particles, but through the utilization of a middle nozzle particles of a mid size may also be classified.
High classification and yield accuracy are obtained by returning the mid-slurry to the tank for a second classification.

Example of Use

  • When a small particle size is required, the top slurry is the product.
  • When a large particle size is required, the bottom slurry is the product.
  • When the removal of both small and large particles is required, the middle slurry becomes the product.
*The TR-10 model may be utilized in various applications by simply applying one of numerous nozzle combinations.

The test device used when the manufacturing device of the powder is examined is prepared. The hydrocyclone classification test device is assembly of T,TR model with the tank, the mixer, and the pump. Because the device can be easily washed, the slurry change is easy.

Test Information

It is recommended that a test (chargeable) be conducted at the investigation stage as the effectiveness of the hydrocyclone system may be affected by such factors as particle size, specific gravity, viscosity and density etc.
The pro`s and con`s of the Cyclone systems application may also be determined by the analysis of a 500cc sample (visual check and particle size measurement conducted at no charge).

Test Details

  • A sample of the clientfs slurry is put through the Hydrocyclone system for analysis.
  • Particle size distribution measurement (A laser machine is used. If the condition of the powder is particularly bad measurement may not be possible)
  • Density measurement (Infra-red moisture measurement system is used. If the fluid is to dense or flammable measurement may not be possible)
  • Capacity, weight and quantity of flow are measured.
  • Submission of test report
* As the amount of sample required for testing differs according to which Hydrocyclone model / system is to be utilized please allow us to see a small pre-test sample. (Slurry 20 - 100L ; In the case of Dry powder, 5 - 35wt% slurry to meet the aforementioned required quantity)
